I have been taking photographs since I was 10 years old. When I was a kid my dad built a darkroom in one of our bathrooms and let me borrow his Canon AE-1 35mm camera. I would explore my hometown with the camera and snap shots of friends, buildings, animals and whatever else caught my eye. Then I would come home, process the exposed negative and use an enlarger in the darkroom to make black and white prints. I was hooked!
I took photography classes at school. I was the yearbook photographer all six years from 7th through 12th grades. I went to college to study film. And although I love the moving image, I keep gravitating back to the still image that is a moment in time, the photograph.
All kinds of elements inspire me: architecture, landscapes, window reflections, light, shadows, advertising, street art and abstracts. I try to push visual perspectives into new territory. I strive to rediscover the familiar by creating a new window of reality, art and life. All my photographs are single exposure originals - no Photoshop, no layers. The images you see here are as I saw them through the lens.
And I love to travel! Everywhere I go I try to discover something new and capture the place and moment that is unique to my eye and my experience. Take a photographic journey with me!
